The simple, but innovative and extremely powerful approach of inserting our sizer inside an optical bench gave rise to the company name.

The optical bench is an extremely stable Circular 'O' profile with 4
strenghening fins forming an 'X' profile around the 'O'. Hence the
system was in  development  the XO optical system. This soon became shortened to the Xoptix which gave the company its name.
